Description
The National Weather Association Foundation awards Sol Hirsch Education Fund Grants to improve meteorology education for K–12 students, their schools, and their communities. Established in 1994 through the generosity of former National Weather Association Executive Director Sol Hirsch and NWA members, the grants were transferred to the Foundation in 2017.
The program supports scientific materials or equipment for classrooms, schools, or communities; new science outreach and education programs; and the expansion of existing meteorology or science programs. It can also support accredited courses, workshops, or conferences related to meteorology that significantly enhance an educator’s teaching. Grants are awarded annually when a suitable recipient is available.
