The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets administers this program to develop facilities supporting the preparation and distribution of New York-focused meals for K–12 students. Round 4 supports capital projects such as aggregation facilities, storage hubs, and commissary-type kitchens. Projects may involve construction, renovation, acquisition, equipment installation, or repair, including a defined portion of a larger capital project.
The program aims to reduce food insecurity, expand markets for New York producers, and strengthen long-term food-system resilience. Facilities must benefit multiple school districts, support local communities, and provide workforce development opportunities. Training may address culinary arts, food processing, safe handling and storage, logistics, delivery, and other community needs. This is the fourth round of a five-year regional investment program.
