    Description

The New York State Department of Health and Spinal Cord Injury Research Board jointly offer PART and IDEA awards, administered by the Wadsworth Center’s Extramural Grants Administration. The program supports research that accelerates translation of preclinical findings into clinical benefits and fills fundamental knowledge gaps in spinal cord injury (SCI) research.

PART supports well-developed research moving toward therapeutic applications or treatment strategies. IDEA supports self-contained, innovative, developmental, exploratory, or high-risk projects, including new technologies and hypotheses originating outside SCI research. The Board seeks major advances toward a cure rather than incremental improvements. Basic, translational, and clinical neurological research are welcomed, with strongest interest in tissue regeneration, repair, and restoration of function through biomedical and bioengineering research.
