The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship provides unrestricted cash awards of $8,000 to individual artists residing in New York State or one of its Tribal Nations. The fellowship aims to support artists’ creative vision and artistic practice at any career stage, rather than funding specific projects. Each year, applications open for five of the fifteen eligible artistic disciplines, rotating on a three-year cycle. Applications are evaluated through a rigorous, peer-reviewed process focused on artistic merit, clarity, cohesiveness, originality, and innovation. Finalists in each discipline also receive a $1,000 award. The program prioritizes artists living outside the New York City metropolitan area but is open to all eligible New York State-based artists.
