    Description

The New Zealand Mathematical Society (NZMS) Student Travel Awards support students in mathematical sciences at New Zealand universities who are presenting research at conferences, attending workshops, or developing new collaborations. The programme supports travel within New Zealand and Australia, as well as further overseas. Preference may be given to postgraduate students, and awards are intended to help students with limited or no access to other support.

The awards contribute towards travel costs rather than covering the full cost of conference or workshop attendance. They also give students experience in seeking external funding. The NZMS Council assesses applications on the anticipated scientific benefits of the travel and the availability of other funding sources.
