Description
Mayo Clinic’s one-year Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, combines clinical training with opportunities in clinical and basic science research. Fellows learn evidence-based care for healthy obstetric patients while emphasizing pregnant patients with complex cardiac, endocrine, neurologic, renal, and other medical conditions. Training includes care during delivery, nonobstetric surgery during pregnancy, and participation in Mayo Clinic’s fetal surgery program.
Fellows work with fellowship-trained consultants and multidisciplinary teams through the High-Risk Obstetric Anesthesia Clinic, Maternal Boards, and Fetal Care Center conferences. The program develops research, communication, and leadership skills alongside clinical expertise. Twenty-five percent of fellowship time is dedicated to research, with faculty mentors supporting scholarly work related to obstetric anesthesiology.
