Description
The Ocean Futures Fellowship, supported by the Institute of International Education (IIE), equips emerging ocean professionals through training, educational projects, professional development, and mentorship with OceanX teams. Fellows work remotely from their home countries, gaining hands-on experience and access to OceanX’s international connections. The program advances the UN Ocean Decade and SDG 14 by developing leaders who can drive innovation, engage global audiences, and foster ocean protection.
The fellowship spans scientific AI research, digital journalism, media archiving, immersive media, marketing and communications, and partnerships. Projects include applying multimodal AI to ocean data, translating discoveries into accessible stories, preserving media for educational use, and developing interactive learning experiences. The cohort prioritizes relevant experience or strong interest alongside AI literacy and responsible use of emerging technologies.
