Description
The Pulitzer Center’s Ocean Reporting Network supports experienced freelance and staff journalists pursuing year-long investigative or in-depth ocean reporting. Launched in May 2023, the network seeks to expose harmful fishing and extractive practices, threats to marine biodiversity and coastal communities, and supply chains driving demand for ocean resources. Its goals include expanding and diversifying ocean journalism, raising public understanding, and supporting reporting that can drive change.
Fellows receive funding, editorial guidance, training, and data and research support through the Center’s Environmental Investigations Unit. They collaborate across newsrooms and borders, with engagement support to reach diverse audiences and measure impact. The program welcomes investigations into climate change, fishing, biodiversity loss, and pollution, while encouraging underreported subjects and science-based or data-driven projects.
