Description
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) administers the Off-System Bridge Program to help local public agencies replace or rehabilitate bridges on roads outside the federal-aid system. The program focuses on bridges on rural minor collector, rural local, and urban local roads, directing funding to construction and construction engineering.
KDOT established the program to meet federal requirements that a portion of transportation funding support eligible off-system bridges. It combines Surface Transportation Block Grant funds, state support, and Bridge Formula Program funds. Awards are made through a competitive application process administered by KDOT’s Bureau of Local Projects.
