The Forestry Pollution Abatement Grant Program provides incentives to loggers, consulting foresters, and other forestry professionals to adopt and implement silvicultural Best Management Practices (BMPs). Its goals are to promote soil conservation and improve wildlife habitat following timber harvests by supporting both planning and on-the-ground practices.
Supported activities include developing Forestry Pollution Prevention Plans (FP3), closing out timber sales using approved plans, seeding skid trails and log landings, and renting portable logging bridges. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Forestry administers the program through the National Association of Conservation Districts, with funding from a USDA Forest Service Landscape Scale Restoration grant.
