    Description

Ohio EPA’s Division of Surface Water administers Section 319(h) grants to address nonpoint source pollution in Ohio’s surface waters. The program works with watershed groups and other eligible partners implementing locally developed watershed plans, particularly where pollution contributes significantly to aquatic life use impairments. Its goals include reducing nutrients, sediment, and bacteria; restoring streams and wetlands; retaining runoff; and improving stream and riparian habitat.

Funding primarily supports implementation, including engineering designs that advance projects toward other funding. Limited support also covers technical assistance and development or significant revision of watershed-scale Nonpoint Source Implementation Strategies (NPS-IS). Projects with measurable nutrient reductions, impairment elimination, or impaired-stream restoration receive higher priority than general pollution prevention. The program page also lists Chloride Reduction, Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and Gulf Hypoxia opportunities.
