Description
The Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture and the Folger Institute at the Folger Shakespeare Library jointly offer this short-term fellowship for studies of early America, broadly understood. It supports researchers with strong interests in Atlantic and colonial history, literary studies, performance history, and material culture.
Fellows spend four continuous weeks working at the Folger Institute in Washington, DC. The Folger Library’s manuscripts, printed works, art, maps, and annotated texts include materials on early modern interactions among African, American, and European people, offering ways to study early America in a wider Atlantic and European context.
