The Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture offers these short-term visiting fellowships to support research on early America, broadly understood, at the Folger Institute in Washington, DC. The program supports researchers ranging from advanced graduate students to senior scholars and centers on four continuous weeks of work at the Folger.

Its scope spans Atlantic history, colonial history, literary studies, performance history, and material culture. Rather than limiting early American research to a single discipline, the fellowship supports a sustained period of on-site scholarship across these historical, literary, performance, and material culture interests. Applications are handled through the Folger Institute’s fellowship application process.
