Description
This program, administered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), funds the implementation of perpetual private land conservation easements and, in some cases, CPW fee-title or CPW-held conservation easement purchases. The initiative is intended to offset unavoidable adverse effects of oil and gas development in Colorado’s high-priority wildlife habitats. The grant supports projects that ensure long-term conservation, restoration, and habitat uplift to protect Colorado’s natural resources. Funding is generated through compensatory mitigation fees paid by oil and gas operators under state regulations.
