Description
The Oklahoma Arts Council’s Oklahoma Arts and the Military Grants support new and ongoing arts programs serving primarily military-connected individuals across the state. Participants include active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, veterans, and their immediate family members and caregivers. Supported work includes hands-on classes and workshops, performances, exhibitions, festivals, virtual arts experiences, and capacity-building activities such as professional development, consulting, research, program development, and evaluation.
Part of the Oklahoma Arts and the Military Initiative launched in 2015, the program seeks to expand meaningful arts engagement and strengthen organizations’ ability to serve military communities. Projects must pursue outcomes such as opportunities for military-connected artists, identifiable participant benefits, organizational capacity, or engagement with diverse military communities. Funding is made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Mid-America Arts Alliance.
