Description
The Oncology Nursing Foundation’s Oncology Nurse Scientist Research Intensive provides research mentoring and networking for PhD-prepared oncology nurse scientists, with an emphasis on early-career researchers. Its goal is to expand the scientific foundation for oncology nursing practice and improve healthcare for people impacted by cancer. Projects may involve investigator-initiated research, pilot or feasibility studies, supplements to currently funded projects, or development of a new aspect of a research program.
Competitively selected participants work with senior research scientist faculty mentors in a mock study section and one-on-one working sessions. The simulated peer review helps participants understand how reviewers think and receive constructive feedback on their proposals. Participants then collaborate with mentors to address weaknesses and develop a detailed modification plan and timeline for submitting their revised proposal to a funding organization of their choice.
