    Description

One Mind launched the Rising Star Awards in 2005 to support early-career investigators in neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, and related disciplines pursuing bold psychiatric research. The program funds basic and preclinical, translational, and clinical studies addressing schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, and suicidality. Transdiagnostic investigations and approaches advancing precision psychiatry receive special attention.

Research interests include molecular, genetic, cellular, and circuit mechanisms; biomarkers; shared dysfunction across disorders; experimental and computational tools; therapeutic mechanisms; and new treatment targets. Studies examining how age, race/ethnicity, and comorbidities affect diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment effectiveness are also relevant. Alongside research funding, awardees join the Science Leaders Program for mentorship, executive coaching, leadership and communication training, and networking.
