Description
Dumbarton Oaks One-Month Research Awards support scholars and predoctoral candidates undertaking focused research in Byzantine studies, Pre-Columbian studies, Garden and Landscape studies, or related fields. The program makes the institution’s intellectual community and library, rare book, garden, and museum resources available for short stays, with some flexibility in starting dates. It is intended especially for researchers unable to undertake a longer-term fellowship and scholars in related disciplines seeking exposure to these fields.
Recipients use Dumbarton Oaks’ research facilities for four consecutive weeks. During that period, they are expected to make significant progress on a project intended for publication—an article or part of a larger work—or achieve another form of professional enhancement described in their application. Both scholarly research and dissertation work are supported.
