Description
The Oncology Nursing Foundation’s pilot implementation funding opportunity supports the integration of nurse-scientist-generated knowledge into oncology nursing practice to improve outcomes for people with cancer. It funds collaborative nursing teams studying how an existing evidence-based intervention that is not consistently used can be adopted, implemented, and sustained in real-world clinical settings.
The emphasis is on implementation processes and strategies, including barriers, facilitators, organizational readiness, and context. Competitive proposals use an implementation science framework, test adoption strategies, and address fidelity, feasibility, acceptability, and sustainability. Projects should produce strategies that can be replicated across healthcare settings, with plans to sustain practice changes and share results with the oncology nursing community. Quality improvement projects that improve a local process or service without creating new knowledge are not responsive.
