Description
The University of British Columbia’s Open Access Fund helps eligible researchers at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan pay publishing fees, including article processing charges, to make scholarship freely available without subscriptions or paywalls. Administered by the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation (VPRI), the fund supports research aligned with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) subject-matter guidelines.
Support covers peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and book chapters. Articles may appear in fully open-access journals or subscription journals charging for individual open-access articles. Books are considered case by case, including digital publication and conversion of previously published works. The program promotes immediate access and wider dissemination of university research through reputable scholarly publishers.
