Description
The German Research Foundation (DFG) Open Access Publication Grant supports the publication of research articles and scholarly books in open access. It provides fixed allowances that institutions can use towards their total open access publication fees, within the framework of institutional information or publication budgets, including virtual budgets. The programme contributes to publication costs rather than funding new research activity.
The calculation of allowances is based on publications resulting from DFG-funded research. Open access books must demonstrably result from a DFG-funded project. Research institutions are the principal applicants, with limited exceptions for individual researchers. The programme succeeds Open Access Publication Funding in 2027, enabling institutions with six years of support under the predecessor programme to apply through a simplified procedure. Institutions with less or no previous support remain eligible.
