Description
Coefficient Giving’s multi-donor Strep A Vaccine Fund supports work across the vaccine development pipeline, from early science through preparation for licensure. Launched in May 2026, its primary goal is preventing rheumatic heart disease (RHD), which disproportionately affects children and young adults in low- and middle-income countries where access to antibiotics, treatment, and surgery is limited. The fund also supports credible near-term interventions to reduce RHD.
The open call welcomes expressions of interest aligned with current research priorities. These include advancing promising vaccine candidates through early clinical development, strengthening epidemiology and immunology, improving preclinical models and assays, developing next-generation vaccines, and preparing pathways for regulatory approval and delivery. A substantial proportion of available funding is expected to support multiple candidates through early clinical development, including controlled human infection models (CHIMs).
