Description
This European Commission grant under Horizon Europe funds research and innovation projects aimed at developing and testing novel knowledge and technology solutions for the management of EU external borders. The focus is on border surveillance, checks, customs, supply chain security, and civilian maritime and aviation border management, with a strong emphasis on protecting and promoting the fundamental rights of both EU citizens and Third Country Nationals, as well as upholding EU values.
Projects should address new, emerging, or unforeseen challenges not covered by other topics in this program, and must provide clear plans for the demonstration, testing, and validation of their tools and solutions. Proposals are expected to integrate intersectional perspectives, considering factors such as gender, age, disabilities, race or ethnicity, sexual orientation, and migrant status. Proposals should also outline strategies for future research, development, and potential upscaling or application at national and EU levels, and must build on, but not duplicate, previous research.
