Description
Funded and administered by OpenAI Group PBC, this program supports independent research on how generative AI affects teens ages 13–17. It aims to build evidence about teens’ AI use, its opportunities and challenges, and how outcomes depend on patterns of use, individual circumstances, and support from families, schools, communities, and technology providers. Findings are intended to inform AI products for teens and questions facing policymakers and regulators.
The program emphasizes social and emotional development, including well-being, identity, agency, friendships, belonging, and human connection. It also welcomes research on differences across ages, cultures, languages, and socioeconomic contexts, and on safeguards, age-appropriate design, AI literacy, and other approaches that may increase benefits or keep teens safer.
