OpenAI’s Cybersecurity Grant Program supports focused work at the intersection of AI and security. OpenAI gives strong preference to practical defensive applications, including tools, methods, and processes.
Applicants can use data to show where current models fall short or propose new ways AI could address security challenges. OpenAI favors clearly defined goals and methods over broad plans. Collaboration and openness are central: projects should be intended for licensing or distribution that maximizes public benefit and sharing, and proposals with a clear plan for doing so receive priority.
