Description
The Opportunity Fund for Southshire Youth provides annual grants to organizations delivering innovative and impactful programs for teenagers in Bennington, North Bennington, Pownal, Shaftsbury, and Woodford, Vermont. The fund prioritizes initiatives that empower local youth, foster connection and belonging, and increase inclusion, especially for those facing hardships. Programs supported typically benefit youth entering or enrolled in 6th–12th grades (ages 12–18), including students at Mount Anthony Middle or High School and residents of the eligible towns.
The fund is intended to support youth-led or youth-focused projects that:
- Bring youth together, especially through new activities with low barriers to access (e.g., themed camps, festivals, clubs, intramural sports)
- Create, maintain, or expand spaces for youth to gather and connect
- Provide opportunities and access for youth facing hardships
- Encourage belonging and inclusion
Both grassroots and established organizations are encouraged to apply, including those without 501(c)(3) status (with a fiscal sponsor).
