Description
The Opportunity Fund for Southshire Youth is a permanently endowed fund administered by the Vermont Community Foundation. Established in 2018, it makes annual grants for dynamic, innovative programs that help Bennington-area teenagers become engaged, empowered, and successful in school, work, community, and life. Its 2026 priorities grew from conversations Foundation staff held with local youth in 2024.
The fund supports youth-led or youth-focused activities and places where young people can gather, connect, and share experiences. Examples include themed camps, festivals, intramural sports, clubs, and informal gathering spaces. Priorities include low barriers to participation, opportunities for youth facing hardships, and stronger belonging and inclusion. Capital projects, new programs, and program or capital expansions can qualify when aligned with these goals.
