    Description

The Oral History Association’s Indigenous Initiative Research Fund supports oral historians actively engaged in collaborative, community-based oral history research with Indigenous peoples. The annual award helps offset project costs or otherwise move ongoing research toward completion. Supported costs can include travel, transcription, equipment, per diem, protocol gifts, and time devoted to the project.

The fund is supported by OHA’s Indigenous Initiative, an ongoing fundraising effort to build an endowment for meaningful and ethical oral history projects within Indigenous communities. It reflects the association’s commitment to support oral history work by, of, and for Indigenous peoples. A review committee that includes members of OHA’s Indigenous Caucus and Council assesses project quality and applicants’ ability to fulfill their stated research goals.
