Description
The Oregon Beef Council supports animal science and rangeland science research, with proposals administered through Oregon State University’s Agricultural Research Foundation (ARF). The council issues an annual request for proposals and prioritizes work that enhances the profitability and sustainability of cattle operations. Its research support goes primarily to faculty at Oregon State University.
Research funding comes from Oregon’s producer-funded beef checkoff. Under the state’s “Five Dimes” assessment, ten cents per head is earmarked for rangeland research and ten cents for animal science research. The council’s research RFP provides the current priorities and application requirements for this opportunity.
