Description
The Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transportation Office funds planning projects that improve mobility and accessibility for people in Oregon, support livable and economically vital communities, and build efficient, connected, coordinated public transportation systems. Funding comes from Federal Transit Administration Section 5304 Statewide Planning and Research and the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund Technical Resource Center.
Supported work includes transportation plans, route modifications, system development, succession planning, and short- and long-range plans. Projects may assess the feasibility of facility improvements, fleet expansion or replacement, software, and technology, or study regional coordination and duplicative services. Comprehensive intermodal planning may examine relationships between land use and transportation modes. Planning goals emphasize safety, security, connectivity, efficient operations, system preservation, environmental protection, energy conservation, quality of life, and alignment with planned growth and economic development.
