Description
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) administers the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) Formula Program to support public transportation across Oregon. Funds can maintain existing service and operations or improve and expand service through mobility management, planning, preventive maintenance, construction, facilities, vehicles, and transit-connected bicycle and pedestrian projects. Free or reduced fares and coordination among transportation providers are also eligible uses.
The program emphasizes transportation for older adults and people with disabilities, students in grades 9–12, and communities with a high percentage of low-income households. It also supports more frequent and reliable connections between communities and less fragmented service. Projects must be derived from local plans and consistent with the goals of the Oregon Public Transportation Plan.
