    Description

The Rural Veterans Healthcare Transportation (RVHT) Grant Program is administered by the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transportation Office in partnership with the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Supported by state lottery funds, it addresses transportation barriers to physical, mental, and behavioral healthcare for rural veterans. It funds preservation and expansion of existing RVHT services, new services, and planning and development addressing unmet healthcare transportation needs.

The 2027–2029 cycle prioritizes operations and purchased services that create or preserve immediate benefits. Projects should identify clear needs and offer innovative, measurable solutions coordinated with other transportation resources. Eligible destinations extend beyond VA facilities to community clinics, dental, vision and hearing care, pharmacies, therapy, counseling, nutritional support, food access, and other services contributing to veterans’ well-being.
