Oregon Sea Grant offers Program Development Grants for project opportunities and special circumstances between its regular competitive funding cycles, when resources are available. The program provides seed money for exploratory or high-risk work, including innovative research with potential for broad impact, and timely responses to urgent needs or unforeseen opportunities. Funds generally are not intended to supplement an existing project.
Projects must align with Oregon Sea Grant’s strategic plan and may range from basic research to outreach and engagement. The program accepts student-led projects and encourages collaboration across academia, industry, government agencies, tribes, nonprofit organizations, and other research institutions. Rapid-response requests and event support may also be considered outside the regular quarterly review periods.
