--- ## Description Organizational Development (OD) Grants from the Community Foundation for Monterey County are designed to help local nonprofits undertake focused, strategic projects that strengthen their ability to be resilient and effective. These one-time grants support organizations in addressing unique management or leadership challenges, such as leadership transitions, CRM or systems upgrades, or strategic planning initiatives. The goal is to enable measurable improvements in organizational capacity, efficiency, and impact. Projects must demonstrate a clear vision for organizational growth, outline how success will be measured, and include realistic budgets and implementation plans. Leadership engagement and a commitment to learning and improvement are essential. --- ## Due Dates - Applications are accepted year-round; there is no set deadline. - Funding decisions are typically made within two months of receiving a complete application. --- ## Funding Amount - Grants range from $5,000 to $10,000 per project. - Funds are intended for non-recurring, capacity-building initiatives. - Grants cannot be used for previously completed activities. --- ## Eligibility - 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, fiscally sponsored groups, and certain public benefit organizations serving Monterey County residents are eligible. - Fiscal sponsors may submit applications for multiple sponsored groups and for themselves. - Organizations in a collaborative may apply for both a collaborative OD grant and their own, provided they are for different projects. - Businesses and individuals are not eligible, except for social enterprises affiliated with a local nonprofit. - Applicants must be current on reporting obligations for any previous CFMC grants. - Organizations without nonprofit status may apply with a fiscal sponsor (contact the Foundation for guidance). --- ## Application Process - **Step 1:** [Review the Organizational Development Grant Guidelines](https://cfmco.org/app/uploads/2024/12/2025-OD-Grant-Guidelines-.pdf). - **Step 2:** Contact Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) staff to discuss your project (required before applying). - **Step 3:** Prepare your application, including project budget and supporting documents. - **Step 4:** Submit your application through the [Online Grants Manager](https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cfmco). - **Step 5:** Await funding decision (typically within eight weeks). - **Reporting:** A final narrative report is required within one year of receiving the grant.
