Description
The Orphan Site Cleanup Fund is administered by the California State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance. It pays for response actions at sites where leaking petroleum underground storage tanks are the principal source of contamination and no financially responsible party has been identified to pay for remediation. The program is not limited to brownfield sites.
Applicants can seek assessment funding to investigate a release, assess soil and groundwater, and prepare a corrective action plan. Cleanup funding supports remediation, implementation of a corrective action plan, and verification monitoring. One application can request both grants. Assessment grants may also cover tank-system removal, free-product removal, and up to 500 cubic yards of soil excavation at the eligible site.
