Description
The Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) offers the Early Career Outreach Travel Award to help volunteers participate in its Open Door program, held alongside the ORS Annual Meeting. The award offsets travel and lodging costs for early-career members who help introduce students to orthopaedic and musculoskeletal science, professional pathways, and the work of ORS members.
Open Door focuses on middle school students choosing their educational trajectory, particularly BIPOC and underrepresented minority students and first-generation students in STEM. Programming includes short career talks, a discussion panel, and hands-on workshops and demonstrations. Volunteers may help plan programming, moderate questions and answers, support workshops, or lead small groups. Those new to STEM outreach can learn from ORS members with longstanding outreach experience.
