Description
The ORS Marshall R. Urist, MD Award recognizes an investigator with a sustained, ongoing body of focused research in tissue regeneration related to the musculoskeletal system. Created in 1996 and sponsored by the Orthopaedic Research Society, it honors substantive contributions to the field, including innovation, research and mentoring impact, collaboration, continued productivity, translational relevance, and professionalism.
The award is named for Marshall R. Urist, whose pioneering studies of bone induction and identification of bone morphogenetic protein helped establish orthopaedic growth factor research. His discoveries demonstrated the potential for faster bone healing and replacement of lost bone tissue. The recipient will present at the ORS 2027 Annual Meeting and must attend to accept the award.
