Description
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administers this program through the ORV Trail Improvement Fund under Michigan’s off-road vehicle law. It supports county sheriff departments’ enforcement and education activities that promote safe use of off-road vehicles (ORVs), with a focus on counties containing state-designated ORV trails.
Grants reimburse eligible patrol time, operating costs and equipment needed for ORV law enforcement. Funding is directed toward the state-designated trail system rather than enforcement of local ordinances that open other routes to ORV traffic.
