The Oscar Beingolea Raptor Research Grant is administered by the Raptor Research Foundation to support field research on birds of prey in Latin America, including the Guianas, and the Caribbean. It encourages original inquiry into raptor ecology and evolution, especially projects addressing poorly known species, systems, or questions. Projects with conservation or community engagement components are particularly encouraged.
Created in 2020, the grant honors Oscar Beingolea’s lifelong study of raptors in Peru and throughout the Americas. His work advanced knowledge of Peregrine Falcon breeding biology and migration and highlighted illegal trapping in Peru. The grant continues that legacy by supporting dedicated field research and helping recipients publish their funded work in the Journal of Raptor Research.
