Description
The Our Children Fund at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia provides financial assistance for everyday items and experiences that help children in Fairfax County foster care feel more normal and supported. It addresses otherwise unmet medical, social, emotional, and educational needs, with an emphasis on daily and immediate needs that might otherwise go unaddressed. Support is available to foster care families needing additional financial resources so children can participate in normal activities.
Created by founding donor Deborah G. Matthews, the fund also supports young adults ages 18–21 for whom permanency has not been achieved. Examples of support include afterschool activities, camps, and sports fees. Dental and health services may also be considered.
