Description
The Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) is a nationally competitive Land and Water Conservation Fund opportunity administered by the National Park Service (NPS). Arizona State Parks & Trails coordinates applications submitted through the state. The program funds acquisition of land and water for parks and other outdoor recreation purposes, as well as development of new facilities or renovation of existing facilities that provide public outdoor recreation.
Projects can include parkland acquisition, accessibility upgrades, playgrounds, pools, bike parks, and sports fields. In Tribal communities, supported projects may include trails, lake and water access, pow wow grounds, cultural gathering spaces, gardens, and traditional game spaces. The program’s focus is enduring public access: its use requirement applies to the entire assisted park or site, not just the grant-funded improvements.
