The Royal Society of Biology’s Outreach and Engagement Grants support citizen science surveys, events, and activities that combine scientific enquiry with public participation. Projects should collect data to answer clearly defined, engaging, and accessible biological questions while promoting public engagement with biology. Topics may include individual species, local ecology, or the local impacts of climate change and sustainability.
The scheme encourages members to turn a scientific question into a simple study that anyone can participate in. Public involvement can include schools, colleges, local communities, and community groups. Project planning should address participant recruitment, data collection and processing, and communication of the final findings to the people who contributed data, sightings, or other work.
