The Overseas Research Fellowship Scheme (ORFS), administered by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC), aims to foster internationalisation among Hong Kong’s UGC-funded universities by enabling mid-career academic staff to engage in collaborative research or professional development at overseas institutions. The scheme is designed to broaden international perspectives, deepen exposure to global research trends, and enhance the scholarly competence and visibility of Hong Kong universities. It operates on a pilot basis for three academic years, with a quota of up to 40 awardees per year, and complements existing university sabbatical and mobility programs.
