Description
The Washington State Department of Ecology’s Toxics Cleanup Program offers Oversight Remedial Action Grants and Loans to help local governments investigate and clean up hazardous waste sites under an order or decree overseen by Ecology or the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The program aims to expedite cleanup and redevelopment while reducing costs borne by local ratepayers and taxpayers.
Funding can support emergency or interim actions, remedial investigations, feasibility studies and remedy selection, engineering design and construction, and up to one year of operation, maintenance, or monitoring after construction of a cleanup component. Landfill closures required as remedial actions are also eligible. Ecology uses biennial applications to inform its budget request and ten-year financing plan.
