Description
The PA Life Science Greenhouse Initiative is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). It combines early-stage financial support with sector-specific business expertise to build Pennsylvania’s health-related life sciences industry, including biotechnology and medical devices. Its goals include forming companies, creating jobs, attracting capital and prominent scientists, and developing commercially useful products and intellectual property.
Three regional Life Science Greenhouses deliver the program, building links among universities, research institutions, businesses, and industry organizations. Supported activities include startup investments, applied research and development, clinical trials, commercialization, and infrastructure needed to advance life sciences. The Greenhouses also support laboratory incubators, intellectual property protection, workforce development, and management assistance for startup companies.
