Description
The Packard Fellowships for Science and Engineering support the nation’s most promising early-career scientists and engineers by providing flexible funding to pursue innovative, high-risk research. Established in 1988 by the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the program empowers recipients to explore new frontiers in their fields with minimal administrative burden and maximum freedom. Each year, up to 20 fellows are selected from 50 invited U.S. universities, with an emphasis on creativity, independence, and potential for transformative impact. The fellowship is among the largest nongovernmental awards for early-career faculty in the United States.
