Palmetto Academy Research supports faculty mentors and students in hands-on projects tied to NASA priorities, building research and communication skills and strengthening South Carolina’s STEM workforce.

Description
The South Carolina Space Grant Consortium’s Palmetto Academy supports faculty-led research sites focused on current NASA research priorities. Each site combines hands-on research with training in scientific methods and processes. Faculty proposals must explain both their NASA mission links and their relevance to South Carolina’s science and technology vision.
The program aims to strengthen South Carolina’s STEM workforce and encourage students to continue in science and engineering. Students work with faculty mentors, develop research and communication skills, and share their findings through a final report, poster, and presentation.
