    Description

The Pantzer Fellowship is administered by The Bibliographical Society and was established through a bequest from the estate of bibliographer Katharine F. Pantzer Jr. It supports bibliographical or book-historical study of printed books from the hand-press period, up to approximately 1830, with a primary focus on the physical object as historical evidence.

The Fellowship assists both immediate research needs, such as reproductions and travel, and longer-term work, including prolonged visits to libraries and archives. Part of the award may fund teaching cover. Within its wider grants programme, the Society seeks to encourage and disseminate innovative, high-quality, publishable bibliographical research, especially by early career researchers, and to advance understanding of book cultures from all parts of the world.
