Description
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ Division of Care and Treatment Services seeks to expand and sustain parent peer professionals as subject matter experts in local systems of care. The work is intended to help children, youth, and families feel valued, heard, and supported while connecting them with coordinated, culturally responsive mental health and substance use services.
Funding supports workshops co-created with youth and families around local knowledge and skills gaps, then delivered by parent peer professionals in their communities. The program also calls for workforce development with Tribal nations, counties, and community agencies; a statewide parent peer professional consultation body; and coordination with the Wisconsin Hub for Peer Professionals to expand certification training in under-resourced areas.
