Description
UK Research and Innovation’s Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) supports the continuation of particle physics experiment research through this consolidated grants opportunity. The 2024 round exceptionally awarded only two years of support rather than the usual four-year cycle. This extension funds the remaining two years, supporting existing programmes as they work towards the objectives of their original awards.
The programme sustains underpinning research capability, including experimental development and construction, computing infrastructure and software, experiment maintenance and operation, and engineering and technical expertise. It also supports maintenance and operations (M&O) and common fund requests for specified experiments. Applications should update the 2024 bid, focusing on changes, progress and the funding needed to achieve or refocus its original objectives. Additional or new activities are considered only in exceptional circumstances.
