Description
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of NIH, plans to support academic or small-business investigators working with one or more industrial partners to advance infectious disease diagnostic tests that have demonstrated proof-of-concept. The opportunity is a cooperative agreement focused on translational development.
NIAID aims to connect investigators with experienced industry partners early enough to address commercialization barriers, reduce development risk, and help ensure that resulting diagnostics are fit for purpose. Such tests could inform treatment strategies, vaccine evaluation, and outbreak identification. A science advisory board and NIAID oversight will help maintain project focus; annual meetings and workshops will support collaboration and knowledge exchange.
